37th Annual Charlie Butt Scullers' Head of the Potomac

On Sunday, September 24, 2017, rowing fans in the District, Maryland and Virginia got a quick glimpse to see the 2017-2018 Men's and Women’s Georgetown Rowing teams on the water.

Friends from Arlington were especially happy to see Taylor in her new Georgetown surroundings.

For those who may not be familiar with rowing, and count me as one, this blog is going to be about learning what the sport is about and highlighting pictures from all the Georgetown Regatta’s I'm able to attend.

So on to today's event, the 37th Annual Charlie Butt Scullers' Head of the Potomac Regatta plays out over a 2.8-mile course that extends down the Potomac River along the Virginia shore across from the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom water-front in Washington, D.C.

There were a number teams competing, including teams from George Washington University, Navy, Georgetown, and many rowing enthusiasts from Youth to Master's.  I was absolutely amazed at the skill levels and dedication from participants aging from 16 years of age to over 70.

For the results of all the Regatta races go HERE.  Taylor was in Bow #272 (bowman) and they came in fourth out of six shells with a time of 16:42.3 on the 2.8-mile course.

Pictures from the Georgetown scene and the actual Regatta event can be found HERE.
